Tomorrow Night’s Den Meeting (2.21.11)

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have decided to still have the boys go bowling tomorrow night.  As part of their Sportsman pin, they need to play 2 individual sports so this would count as their first one.  So we will be going over the Mountain Run Bowling Center after the boys complete their God and Family lesson tomorrow evening.  The cost is $2.75 shoe rental and $2.75 a game per boy.  If parents want to bowl too with the boys, that is fine.  If anyone has a problem with the cost, let me know and we will figure it out.

Also, I did need to remind everyone that God and Family starts tomorrow night.  Everyone needs to be at the church at 6pm.  I am hoping that every boy attends because as part of their Webelos badge, they are to complete the religious emblem, if not this one, then the one for their faith.

For Tomorrow Night

I know I am so behind but, it has definitely been one of those weeks.  I wanted to see if anyone has 16oz clear soda bottles.  We don’t drink soda but we need them to make our lava lamps tomorrow night.  I have clear water bottles but they have ridges and don’t think they would be as cool as if the bottles were completely clear.  If anyone has any, I need at least 6.  Please let me know if you have any ASAP.

Reminder for Tonight!

I just wanted to make sure to remind everyone that the boys should not wear good clothes to the meeting tonight.  We will be tie dying the shirts for Blue and Gold and I don’t want them to ruin their good clothes if they get dye on them.

Reminder!

Just wanted to remind everyone that there are homework assignments that are due tomorrow.  Each boy got a sheet with the homework that is due tomorrow and the following Monday.  When they are done with these items, they will have earned their Heritage Belt Loop and the Family Member pin.  I will working over the next few weeks to plan out more of our meetings and activities.  Once I have completed what we are going to do, I am going to put the dates into Scout Track so you can see what is planned.  I am also going to put calendar reminders in there for when assignments are due.

Also, starting tomorrow, we will be meeting in the room that the Cobras had previously occupied.  That way, I feel the boys can be better seated to pay attention.

Now that the New Year has started, I am going to expect that the boys are ready to take their position as the oldest boys in the pack now and I will expect that they act this way.  I will not be tolerating outbursts and comments.  If the boys can not control themselves and I have to speak to them more than once, they will be sent down to talk to Mr. Morse or Mrs. Sink.

Hope to see you guys tomorrow.

Also for Monday…

I also forgot to remind you that on Monday, we will have Pinewood Derby cars available.  You may either purchase them with your Scout Bucks (see Troy Frazier for receiving yours) or $5 cash.  The Pinewood Derby race will be January 29th so the boys will need to start these ASAP.

Pack Meeting this Monday 1-3-10

Just wanted to remind everyone that there is a pack meeting this Monday night.  The Webelos 2 will be bridging to Boy Scouts that evening.  Our den is doing closing so I expect all boys to be there.   For the closing, here will be the boys roles:

Narrator – Ryan

Pack Flag – Jacob

US Flag – Cooper

Evan and Reese will be backups if, for some reason, the other boys are sick.  Here is the closing:

Retiring of Colors – Indoors

Narrator

Actions

Will the audience please rise? (Pause.)

The color guard waits in the back of the room for the audience to rise and become quiet.

Color guard, advance.

The U.S. flag guard and bearer and pack flag guard and bearer walk down the aisle and to the flags. They stand behind the flags, facing the audience.

Color guard, salute.

The guards and bearers salute.

Color guard, retire the colors.

The U.S. flag is removed first (just slightly ahead of the pack flag).

Hand salute.

Everyone, with the exception of the guards and bearers, salutes. The U.S. flag stays on its “marching right” as the guards and bearers proceed down the aisle to the rear of the room.

Two.

Everyone drops the salute.

Sorry…one more thing….

Also, I will be giving a bag to the boys for trash pickup.  While they are out delivering the bags, they should also pick up any trash they see along the way.  At all times, they should be practicing Leave No Trace.

On Monday, their chore charts are due to me.  So make sure that the boys have this.  They also need to think of what they want to do for their conservation project.  It can be as simple as picking a date and time and going to pick up trash at the park.  I am open to any ideas that someone might have.
